That does account for much of my shooting, but I also delve into other things as opportunities arise.<\/p>\n<p>With the 41st President of the United States in the news recently, it made me recall some shooting I did in the Florida Keys. In 1995 I was invited to photograph a fundraising fishing tournament in Islamorada hosted by the Cheeca Lodge.<\/p>\n<p>Known as the George Bush-Cheeca Lodge Bonefish Tournament, this was the second of an annual event to benefit the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library, as well numerous deserving non-profit organizations.<\/p>\n<p>My job was to cover the fishing, ceremonies and socializing surrounding the two day event. It was a privilege to photograph it for 9 consecutive years until the final tournament in 2003.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/tennis.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3632\" src=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/tennis.jpg\" alt=\"tennis\" width=\"600\" height=\"407\" srcset=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/tennis.jpg 600w, http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/tennis-400x271.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a>The first time I met the former President was on a tennis court with superstar Chris Everett.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/greeting.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3633\" src=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/greeting.jpg\" alt=\"greeting\" width=\"600\" height=\"410\" srcset=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/greeting.jpg 600w, http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/greeting-400x273.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a>President Bush was socially engaging with everyone, and I felt comfortable around him.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/casting-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3634\" src=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/casting-2.jpg\" alt=\"casting 2\" width=\"600\" height=\"369\" srcset=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/casting-2.jpg 600w, http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/casting-2-400x246.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a>Days out on the water were long, especially if the fish weren&#8217;t biting. This was my first year shooting the tournament and his fishing partner was former Secretary of Treasury, Nicholas Brady. George Hommell on the left, was also on board.
