It\u2019s the longest running visual arts exhibition in the county. Frank Stick was a renown Outer Banks artist, a preservationist and was instrumental in having Cape Hatteras designated as our first National Seashore.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve made a piece for nearly every show. This year there were well over a hundred entries, with an award for Best in Show. There are also 4 Excellence Awards, 3 Honorable Mentions and a People\u2019s Choice award.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/beachy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5448\" src=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/beachy.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/beachy.jpg 600w, http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/beachy-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Many of the subjects are Outer Banks oriented.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Ray.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5449\" src=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Ray.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Ray.jpg 600w, http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Ray-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ray Matthews is a master printer. His photograph of an aerial view at Hatteras Inlet was brilliant. He&#8217;s inspired me since we first met in 1973.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/fish.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5450\" src=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/fish.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/fish.jpg 600w, http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/fish-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I had a difficult time deciding on a People&#8217;s Choice, but ultimately went with James Perry&#8217;s mixed media abstract on the far right. I was taken by his use of shapes and vibrant colors.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/truck.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5451\" src=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/truck.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/truck.jpg 600w, http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/truck-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>My entry was a 23&#215;28 framed photograph of a <strong><em>Farm Truck<\/em><\/strong> taken last November in the hills of Virginia, near Shenandoah National Park.
