On Hatteras Island it\u2019s also when my craving for oysters kicks in. It seems the colder the water, the better they taste. I\u2019ve enjoyed collecting them for years. There\u2019s nothing like sharing them with folks. It\u2019s not only culinary but also a social experience.<\/p>\n<p>Last year a festival initiated as\u00a0<strong><em>Shuck Hatteras<\/em><\/strong> was held December 17th. It was such a success that the 2nd annual took place this year on the 16th.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Eric.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6081\" src=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Eric.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The heartbeat of the show is volunteers roasting oysters.<\/p>\n<p><a Sweaters<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Shuck Hatteras<\/strong><\/em> gets a big thumbs up for bringing us together while giving profits back to the community.
