As destructive as they can be, they&#8217;re awe-inspiring. Over the years, I\u2019ve experienced many. I\u2019d rather not document devastation, but instead the natural display they can produce. Hurricanes are best seen from a distance.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6490\" src=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1.jpg 600w, http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Thanks to modern meteorology, the storm&#8217;s forecast was spot-on. With high predictions to stay offshore, we decided to hunker down at home. Depending on the level of anxiety, one can either board up or not. In this case, we didn\u2019t. Our strongest wind maybe gusting to 50, occurred on the backside, after <em><strong>Erin<\/strong><\/em> passed Hatteras Island. A bullet dodged.
