The post office located in his home had maybe a dozen PO boxes and general delivery. Woodrow was always engaging. Current events, the weather or politics, you never knew what the morning\u2019s topic might be. It wasn\u2019t uncommon for him to ask for some help around the house. One day he asked me to help clear some vacant lots across the highway. I\u2019d get the going rate of $3 an hour. I hardly ever turned Woodrow down.<\/p>\n<p>Upon clearing the land, we discovered the remains of an old boat. Still on board was a curious looking motor. Woodrow called it a <em><strong>One Lunger<\/strong><\/em>, dating back to the 1920\u2019s or 30\u2019s. It was made of cast iron, and extremely heavy.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/field.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6561\" src=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/field.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"377\" srcset=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/field.jpg 600w, http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/field-400x251.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After removing some vegetation the shape of the boat became more apparent.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/bow.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6560\" src=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/bow.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"378\" srcset=\"http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/bow.jpg 600w, http:\/\/photoblog.michaelhalminski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/bow-400x252.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The narrow stern indicated this must have been a sail skiff converted to engine power.
